STYRENICS

Styrenic polymers are used to describe a family of major plastic products that use Styrene as their key building block. Manufacturers use styrene-based resins to produce a wide variety of everyday goods.

APPLICATIONS: Cups and utensils to furniture, bathroom, kitchen appliances, hospital and school supplies, boats, sports and recreational equipments, consumer electronics, automobile parts, and durable lightweight packaging of all kinds.

GENERAL PURPOSE POLYSTYRE NE (GPPS)

General purpose polystyrene (GPPS) is one of the most widely used kinds of plastic that has excellent transparency, high stiffness and excellent moldability (injection, extrusion, foam molding etc.).
APPLICATIONS: GPPS is used for disposable cups, lunch box cases, household dishes, confectionary tray, package, CD cases, container for a seasoning, various films etc.

FEATURES OF GPPS:

  • Moldings with transparency, beautiful color and appearance
  • Excellent processability with high production efficiency
  • Superior electrical and mechanical properties

HIGH IMPACT POLYSTYRENE (HIPS)

High impact polystyrene (HIPS) is a tough plastic that has excellent impact strength, high stiffness and excellent moldability, with limited transparency.

APPLICATIONS:
HIPS is used in household appliances (TV housings, exterior of air-conditioner, etc.), office automation apparatus (housing for a copying machine, printer, etc.), toys, housewares, frozen food tray, bottles for a lactic acid drink, cups for ice cream, yogurt, tofu etc.
FEATURES OF HIPS – A graft-type polymer of styrene and synthetic rubber, produced by the TOYO-MITSUI PS PROCESS:

  • Well-balanced mechanical properties with superior flexural strength
  • Extremely high impact
  • High gloss with toughness
  • Superior processability

EXPANDABLE POLYSTYRENE (EPS)

Expandable Polystyrene is a thermoplastic material in spherical bead shape, which contains pentane as expansion agent, and is obtained as a result of polymerization of Styrene.

APPLICATIONS: It is widely used as a protective packaging for consumer electronic products and white goods. Its excellent thermal insulation and mechanical protection attributes make it an ideal material to package fish and other foodstuff. EPS also has applications in horticulture, as it is used in seed trays.
KEY PROPERTIES

  • Highly Durable
  • Light-weight
  • Ideal for Insulation

ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE (ABS)

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene resin (ABS) has excellent rigidity and is resistant to stretch, bend, impact, etc. and has excellent heat/cold resistance and chemical resistance. ABS is also suitable for plating, easy to be colored, and is able to make molded products with gloss.

APPLICATIONS: ABS is used in automotive parts, housewares, miscellaneous goods, coffee mill, parts of coffeemaker, refrigerator, microwave oven, thermos bottle, pump pot, water-purifying device, measuring cup for rice bin, lacquered ware etc. ABS produced by the continuous bulk polymerization process can produce the high stiffness and medium impact types, and both are suitable for applications such as housings for office automation equipment or home appliance, automotive parts and building material.
